Old Milwaukee NA versus Busch NA – Near Beer Video Review

two near beer comparison test

Here is my honest review of there two cheap near beers….

Now, these beers are not going to win any awards. These are not high quality crafted beverages. These are the non alcoholic equivalent of cheap college beer, day at the lake beer, or working around the house beer. In fact, I stumbled upon an old Busch Non-Alcoholic beer commercial where a bunch of loggers chant “we’re pruning the scenery with heavy machinery”. I guess they were marketing Busch near beer as a heavy machinery-friendly beverage. This should give you a decent idea of who Anheuser-Busch was targeting when they made this beverage.

Well, lets cut to the chase…

Now, let’e get down to brass tacks. Neither of these beers are great, and I’m guessing that local availability is going to be the deciding factor. Out here on the West Coast, these are basically our two options. I’d love to try some of the cheap beers they have on the East Coast like Penn’s Best or Genesee NA and see how they compare.

Interestingly, in the process of making this review, I failed to mention another great use of cheap near beers like these… cooking !!

These beers are cheap and amazing to cook with. For beer battered fish and chips or beer braised pork loin, there is no better beer to use than a cheap NA. All the flavor is there and you don’t have to waste your good beers on the food.
